1/4 cup Corn syrup — light
1 cup Water
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/3 cup Butter
1/4 teaspoon Vanilla
Put sugar, corn syrup, water and salt in saucepan. Stir over low heat until

r is dissolved. Increase heat and cook until thermometer registers 250 F.,

ball stage. Add butter, cook with ocassional stirring until thermometer
registe
rs 300 F., brittle stage. Remove from stove, add vanilla, pout into buttered

llow pan, making a layer 1/4″ deep. While warm, crease into squares wiht blunt
k
nife.
When cold, break into pieces.

Orange-Sesame Pain Perdu

3/4 c Milk
3 ts Grated orange rind
3/4 c Orange juice
1 ts Vanilla
8 Bread slices,French/Italian
2 tb Sesame seeds
2 tb Butter
Orange rind strips (opt)
Confectioners’ sugar (opt)
Preserves (opt)
Syrup (opt)
1. Thoroughly blend eggs, milk, geated orange rind, juice and vanilla.
2. Pour half the egg mixture into buttered 13x9x2-inch baking dish.
3. Place bread slices in egg mixture (trim larger slices to fit or use
smaller slices to fill in).
4. Pour remaining egg mixture over bread; cover dish and refrigerate
several hours or overnight.
5. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sesame seeds over soaked bread slices.
6. In large skillet over low heat, melt 1 tablespoon butter; cook 4 bread
slices, seeded side down, until lightly browned, about 7 to 9 minutes.
7. Sprinkle with half the remaining sesame seeds; turn and continue cooking
until lightly browned on other side.
8. Repeat with remaining toast.
9. If desired, garnish with orange rind strips and serve hot with
confectioners’ sugar, preserves or syrup (optional).
NOTE: Pain Perdu, or lost bread, is an economical egg dish; use stale
French bread that you may otherwise discard. Creoles relish this
crisp-coated treat as a breakfast of brunch dish. It’s often served in the
Latin Quarter with a warm cup of cafe au lait.

1 Teaspoon Garlic — chopped
1 cup or can Beans — soaked
1 cup Barley
1-2 cups Green Giant Harvest fake meat for recipes
1 can Diced tomatoes
2 carrot — sliced
3 potato — cubed
taco seasoning
water
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1. Spray pot with cooking spray or use oil to saute onion. Add garlic when
onion is almost browned.
2. Add remaining ingredients except tomatoes and enough water cover
ingredients plus about 2 to cups more.
3. Bring to boil, lower heat and cook for about an hour.
4. Add the canned tomatoes and position the pot on blech over low flame and
let simmer until shabbos lunch.

3 tb Light corn syrup
1 c Butter — softened
In 5 cup blender container or food processor, puree
berries. Press through sieve to remove seeds or skins,
if necessary; set aside. In small mixer bowl, beat
butter until light and fluffy, 1-2 minutes. Add berry
puree and corn syrup to butter. Beat at medium speed
until well mixed. Cover; store refrigerated. Let stand
at room temperature 30 minutes before serving.

1 1/2 Foil-wrapped bars NESTLE
-unsweetened chocolate
-baking bars (3 oz)
3/4 c Butter or margarine,
-softened
1 c Sugar
1/2 ts Salt
1 Egg
1/2 c Raspberry preserves
1 ts Vanilla extract
3 c All-purpose flour
1 pk NESTLE Toll House
-semi-sweet chocolate
-Rainbow Morsels (9 oz)
Preheat oven to 350′F. In small saucepan over low
heat, melt Nestle unsweetened chocolate baking bars;
set aside.
In large mixer bowl, beat butter, sugar and salt until
creamy. Blend in egg, preserves and vanilla extract.
Blend in melted chocolate. Gradually beat in flour.
Place dough in cookie press fitted with desired plate.
Press dough onto ungreased cookie sheets; decorate
with Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate Rainbow
Morsels.
Bake 8-10 minutes until set. Let stand 1 minute.
Remove from cookie sheets; cool completely.
Makes 8 dozen cookies.

28 oz Baked Beans in Brown Sugar
-Sauce
11 1/2 oz V-8 or Tomato Juice
8 Frankfuaters, cut into 1″
-pieces
1 ts Worsterceshire Sauce
American or Cheddar Cheese,
-shredded
Cook carrots, onions and garlic in the butter in a 3 Qt sauce pan.
Stirring frequently until crisp and tender. Stir in the remaining
ingredients except for the cheese. Heat over medium heat, stirring
occasionally until hot. Serve with cheese.
